PC Community Foundation Fund receives challenge to raise $100,000

At a community event held Sunday, the Perkins County Community Foundation Fund announced a donor challenge and how close they are to reaching their goal.

Two years ago, PCCFF was contacted by an anonymous donor, challenging them to raise $100,000 by the end of December 2019. If the goal is met, the donor will donate $50,000.

PCCFF has raised $60,000, and is asking for the community’s help in raising the remaining $40,000.

Ways to support the foundation include gifts of cash, appreciated property, life insurance, by will, trust or IRA, gifts that provide income such as charitable gift annuities or remainder trusts, and gifts of grain.

Since its inception in 2003, the foundation has put $60,000 back into Perkins County. They’ve given to Eagle Scout projects, the library, school, Perkins County Museum, villages of the county and several community organizations and projects.

Denise Garey, affiliated fund development coordinator for the Nebraska Community Foundation spoke at the event.

Brenda Styskal, president of the Perkins County Historical Society spoke of the rich history of Perkins County, which was officially formed on Nov. 8, 1887.

Members of PCCFF include Co-chairs Becky Uehling and Dennis Demmel, Treasurer Michelle Ross, Secretary Janet Lagler, Jeff Wallin Val Foster, Kris Long, Angela Gloy, Diana Maupin, Barb Tines, Kim Bishop and Tana Miller.
