PC drivers using seat belts
In traffic stops during this year’s “Click it or Ticket” campaign run by the Perkins County Sheriff’s Office, every driver was wearing their seat belt.
The awareness campaign ran over the Thanksgiving holiday from Nov. 24-28.
Sgt. Brian Gertsch said they conducted 16 stops during the time frame with no one out of compliance with the seat belt requirement.
He said they did issue seven citations and 9 warning tickets.
After these enforcement efforts, another survey was conducted to evaluate any change to the observed seatbelt usage in the area.
The second observational survey revealed a 7% increase in seatbelt usage in the county.
Gertsch said the Sheriff’s Office appreciates the public’s awareness and attention to wearing seat belts.
It’s especially key during the increased traffic holiday travel brings.
