PC Fair 2020 plans moving ahead

Despite the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Perkins County Fair Board is moving forward with plans for the 2020 Perkins County Fair. 

At their last meeting, the board voted on themes submitted by PC students. 

The winning theme was submitted by Jet Peterson, who’s idea was “Country Nights and Carnival Lights”

Peterson will receive chamber bucks, a free meal at the Lions stand, as well as a special spot in the parade. 

The parade had to be rerouted this year, as this year’s big entertainment, Sawyer Brown, will begin their stage setup in the Grand Stands on Saturday morning. 

Instead of the parade ending after a pass through the grandstands, the parade will start at the park per usual, and progress south on Central Avenue and turn west onto 3rd Street and then south on Lincoln to pass in front of the court house. 

From there, the route will turn west on second street and then back north on Garfield and will end at Third St. 

The board will be working on more details as far as where the emcee will set up, but the courthouse lawn (with the exception of the north side) should prove to be a great place to view the parade. 

Also planned for this year are several food vendors, and of course the bounce houses. 

An escape room designed by Shannon Jensen will also be an attraction patrons won’t want to miss. 

The mechanical bull will make it’s return this year along with some new attractions that include speed pitch, a ninja wall and gaga ball.

Golf on the Go will be bringing their putt-putt golf course back this year as well. 

Thursday night of the fair, Perkins County FFA will host Farm Olympics, Friday night will be the Ranch Rodeo. 

Saturday night Sawyer Brown is set to perform with opener Whiskey Bent.
