PCHS Foundation bringing Pickleball tournament fundraiser to Grant City Park Sept. 21

Registrations due Sept. 3

The Perkins County Health Services Foundation is inviting the community to take a swing for a cause at its upcoming Pickleball Tournament Sunday, Sept. 21, at Grant City Park.

“Take a slice out of your day and support our surgery department and ICU! Cut into some delicious food from a variety of food vendors! Take a stab at playing pickleball! Work your way to the top and score some awesome prizes,” boasted Perkins County Health Services Foundation Administrator Lindsay Nodlinski.

The event, starting at noon, will raise funds for the hospital’s surgery department and intensive care unit (ICU).

“Whether you have a paddle or not, we can all agree that a day at the park with good food and good company is the very best medicine,” said Nodlinski, “We’d love a HUGE turnout, please come spend the day with us,” she added.

Participants can compete in men’s, women’s, and mixed doubles across beginner and intermediate brackets.

When asked why a pickleball tournament fundraiser, Nodlinski said, “Pickleball is a game that everyone can play. It’s simple to learn, accessible to everyone, and Grant City Park has two courts ready for action.”

Registration is required to compete, and entries are limited.

Teams can register by contacting Nodlinski at pchsfoundation@gmail.com or 308-352-7285.

The deadline for registration is Sept. 3.

The family-friendly event will also feature a variety of activities for spectators.

Cornhole and carnival games will be available for all ages, while the hospital’s Radiology Department will host a photo booth throughout the day.

The ICU will keep the music going, creating a lively atmosphere for players and visitors alike.

Food will be available from a variety of vendors, and Penny Hite’s WorldStrides students heading to Washington, D.C., will be selling items to support their trip.

Bottled drinks and pickles will also be available for purchase.

Attendees can browse a silent auction featuring items such as a day of golf for four at Pheasant Run Golf Course, a volleyball signed by John Cook and Coach Dani Busboom donated by Steve Morgan Camps, a hydrafacial from Vivid Skincare, gift baskets from area businesses, and five themed baskets for bidding.

Proceeds from the tournament and silent auction will support the purchase of a defibrillator for the ICU and contribute toward a Stryker Tower for the surgery department, thanks to generous local sponsors.

“We are encouraging everyone in the community to come join us Sunday afternoon on September 21!” Nodlinski said.
