Perkins County Fair has changes in schedule

Most 4-H shows, activities and livestock shows will be a day earlier compared to past years at this year’s Perkins County Fair. Entry day for 4-H and open class exhibits will also be affected, according to the Perkins County Extension Office.

Traditionally, static 4-H and open class entry day was on the Wednesday of fair week, with open floral entering on Thursday. This year, however, all static exhibits, 4-H and all open class, will be entered on Tuesday, July 19. The schedule updates should allow 4-H exhibitors more opportunities to participate in other fair activities and shows during county fair. Also new this year will be where the open floral entries will be entered.

The floral building will be the new home to the open class quilt exhibits. Because of this, open class floral will now be entered in the dance hall building, along with all the other open static exhibits and the 4-H static exhibits. Once judged, these items will be put on display in the exhibit hall.

Another notable schedule change this year will affect the 4-H livestock auction, with the sale taking place Friday, July 22, instead of on the usual Saturday of the fair. The sale will begin at 3:30 p.m.
