Pieces come together for puzzle participants
The Friends of the Hastings Memorial Library held their fourth annual puzzle contest on Saturday, April 12th at the senior center in Grant.
There were 29 youth (K-8th grade) competitors and 25 adult competitors.
Puzzlers got to work at a 1:30pm whistle start as individuals, teams of two or teams of four. Snacks and drinks were provided by members of Friends of the Library with contributions from competitors as well.
A fifteen minute break was called after two hours of puzzling where those not finished were required to step away from their tables. Puzzling resumed at 3:45pm and continued until the time limit of four hours was called at 5:45pm.
All puzzles were donated by the Hastings Memorial Library Foundation. Sponsorship money was raised to allow all youth puzzlers to compete for free.
Adults paid a $10/person entry fee. Donations were also collected to benefit the library. Friends of the Library is a group organized for the support and outreach of the Library.
Those interested in joining the group can contact Val Foster or Lila Konecky.
