Quinn selected as good neighbor

Robin Quinn has been selected as the recipient of this year’s good neighbor award. 

Born and raised in Perkins County, Quinn lived in Lincoln and St. Joseph, Mo., after receiving a degree in English literature and history from Hastings College. 

She returned to Grant nearly 11 years ago to accept the position of library director at Hastings Memorial Library.

In a nomination letter, Quinn was recognized for doing so much for the community.

“The summer program she conducts for our children is exceptional. She also works throughout the school year with students and staff,” the letter read. 

Quinn said being named the good neighbor is a really lovely honor, and reminds her that what she does is important. 

“It tells me the things that are important to me are important to the community, too,” she said.

She joked that she wasn’t sure if her actual neighbors considered her a good neighbor since her dog barks a lot. 

She said she feels her job is an important community builder, and it’s important to her to make the library the best it can be to give the community the library they deserve. 

Quinn also enjoys giving back to the community and helping youth by serving as the 4-H dog group leader.

She enjoys reading of course, gardening, geneology and is “an aspiring knitter with an awesome yarn stash.”

Quinn said she has to keep herself busy, and if she has to be busy, she may as well be doing something that’s helping someone.

“I don’t know that you’re doing much of anything, if you’re not helping people,” she said. “I just feel like it’s important to spread positivity and good. It’s just important to me.”

Quinn has a son, Wyatt who will be 13 next month. Her parents are Doug and Kathy Schroder of Grant.
