Relay for Life scheduled June 15-16 in Ogallala

Relay for Life for the American Cancer Society will be held from 6 p.m. Friday, June 15 to 6 a.m. Saturday, June 16 at the North Park in Ogallala. 

This year’s theme is “United We Stand”. Registration for all survivors will begin at 5:30 p.m. Friday with special honor to the military men and women. 

The opening ceremony will begin around 6 p.m. and a free meal for all will follow. At approximately 7 p.m. the survivor/caregiver walk will begin. 

There will be a silent and live auction at the event with proceeds benefitting the American Cancer Society. 

Games and movies will be provided for entertainment. 

A reading of those honored with luminaries will be held at 9 p.m.

The walk will go on throughout the night, signifying that it takes faith and endurance through the day and night to fight cancer.

Breakfast is expected to be served at 5:30 a.m. with the closing ceremony around 6 a.m. 

Everyone is encouraged to attend, especially survivors, as the event is in their honor to show how they have prevailed and continue to fight.

Joyce Walls will be at Hatch’s Super Foods in Grant on Saturday morning, June 9, to register any survivors interested in participating.

She will also be selling luminaries for the event. Luminaries cost $10 each and can be in honor/memory of an individual or a caregiver.
