Schmitt files to run for mayor

Lisa Schmitt has filed to run for mayor of the City of Grant. She is currently the only one who has filed for the seat. Current Mayor Mike Wyatt has not yet filed for re-election.

So far, the only other contested seat is that of Perkins County Commissioner District No. 2. Republican Ron Hagan has filed to run against Republican incumbent Bernard Deaver.

Current county filings include Republican incumbent Peggy Burton for assessor, Republican incumbent Richard Roberts for attorney, Republican incumbent Steven Tucker for commissioner in District No. 3, Republican incumbent Rita Long for clerk, Republican incumbent James Brueggeman for sheriff and Republican incumbent Julie Sestak for treasurer.

Incumbent Andrea Brueggeman has filed for the Grant City Council, Incumbent Bonnie Taubenheim has filed for the PC Hospital Board and incumbent Amy Kroeker has filed for the PC School Board.

Incumbents (any current office holders) have until Thursday, Feb. 15 to file for re-election. Non-incumbents, or new filers, have until Tuesday, March 1. 

Village board incumbents have until July 16 to file and non-incumbents have until Aug. 1. 

The primary election will be held on May 15 and the general election will be held Nov. 6, 2018.
