Second annual quilt giveaway to take place at Perkins County Fair

For the second consecutive year, the Quilted Leaf Quilt Guild will be giving away a quilt at the Perkins County Fair. The guild hopes to make the giveaway an annual event to commemorate the fair each year and draw people in to see the displayed quilts that the guild has been working on.

Quilts will again by displayed at the Floral exhibit building, which will be open Thursday, July 20, 1-8 p.m.; Friday, July 21, 1-8 p.m. and Saturday, July 22, 9-5 p.m.

This year’s is a multi-colored quilt comprised of 40 blocks featuring houses and trees, each crafted by a different quilter in the guild.

After the blocks were joined, the quilt was bordered, quilted and bound, each step done by a different guild member. A label with the fair’s theme: “Stars, Stripes and Summer Nights” is attached to the back.

Tickets for the giveaway quilt are free, and can be obtained during open hours and until approximately 10 a.m. Saturday. Participants are asked to only enter once.

The winner will be announced at the start of the concert in the Dance Hall Saturday night, and need not be present to win.
