Senior Center holds burrito fundraiser

The Perkins County Senior Center will be holding a burrito fundraiser Saturday, Oct. 3 as part of a three-month-long fundraiser for the center.

The fundraiser began in September, when they hosted the first burrito breakfast on Saturday, Sept. 5.

Trish Jimenez of the senior center said they made four dozen burritos and they sold out by 10 a.m. Because of last month’s turnout, they plan to have more burritos prepared for this Saturday.

The burritos contain sausage, potatoes, eggs, cheese and green chiles, and all of the burritos are homemade at the senior center.

They also plan to have a sign up sheet available on Saturday for those who would like to order frozen burritos and cinnamon rolls.

Funds from the burrito breakfasts will go directly to the senior center to handle expenses. They are not able to hold group fundraising events due to Covid, so Jimenez said they are trying something new.

Those interested in picking up breakfast burritos can stop by the senior center between 8 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. or until there are no burritos left. The burritos are available by free will donation, a minimum of four dollars.

The third and final weekend for the fundraiser will be Saturday, November 7.
