Skater pursues world record in Grant

Route 61 Roller Dome had a special guest on Saturday, Sept. 18. Rasheed Shabazz of Baltimore, Maryland, was in Grant to skate for a world record.

Skating since the age of 5, Shabazz has been working 15 years to get into the Guinness Book of World Records for skating in all 50 states. 

At age 60, Shabazz said he isn’t getting any younger and skating rinks are harder to come by. 

To set the record, Shabazz has yet to skate in South Dakota, North Dakota, Idaho, Montana and Ohio.

Shabazz was headed north when he left Grant.
