Stumpy to speak at Trinity Lutheran

Jim (Stumpy) Hendrickson of Shelby,  formerly of Grant, will speak on his mission efforts with Lutheran Medical Missions in Gambia during a presentation at Trinity Lutheran Church of rural Ogallala. 

The event is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 23 at Trinity’s annual Mission Festival.

Hendrickson will speak at the 9 a.m. Bible study and 10 a.m. worship service at Trinity. A potluck dinner provided by Trinity members will follow and all are welcome to attend. 

Hendrickson, now retired, will focus his discussion and multimedia presentation on medical mission efforts in Gambia, such as providing for vaccinations and other human health needs. He classifies his effort as a wonderful experience in sharing love with world neighbors. 

As a previous resident of Grant, Hendrickson operated a local restaurant and was employed by Perkins County Schools for a time. More recently he was employed by Shelby and Rising City School District as transportation manager. He is also retired from military service and EMT training. 

Hendrickson hopes to continue participation in medical missions in the future.

Offerings received at the mission festival will support mission efforts of Lutheran Medical Missions.Trinity Lutheran Church is located eight miles north and one mile west of Grant on Road 768.
