Summer reading kicks off with The Kilted Man

“Libraries Rock” is the theme for this summer’s reading program at Hastings Memorial Library in Grant, which kicks off this Thursday, May 24.

The Kilted Man will be offering two performances at 1 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. at the Grant City Park Bandshell.

The Kilted Man, Matthew Gurnsey, is a Celtic musician who performs traditional Irish and Scottish music on Celtic instruments such as the concertina, bodhran, bones, mandolin, penny whistle, and bowed psaltery and sings with a rich ,bass voice.

Those attending can register for the reading program, which begins June 4, and will feature contests, drawings and prizes for youth ages 18 months to sixth grade.

The weekly programs begin the week of June 4 and continue through the month of June.

Toddler Story time for ages 18-36 months will be held on Mondays from 10:15-11 a.m.

Participants in the following age groups will be able to choose which day or time to attend.

Youth ages 3 through kindergarten may attend story time on Tuesdays or Wednesdays from 9:30-10:30 a.m.
