Village of Madrid to host tire cleanup event

The Village of Madrid has received a grant from the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality and will be sponsoring a tire clean-up event for Perkins County residents and the surrounding area on Aug. 17, 18, 24 and 25.

On Friday, Aug. 17 and 24, tires will be received from 1-5 p.m. On Saturday, Aug. 18 and 25 tires will be received from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Tires of any size will be accepted as long as they are off the rim. Any tires left on the rim will not be accepted.

The receiving site will be at the Madrid Dump, located on Road 337, half a mile south of Highway 23.

Tires cannot be accepted from any Colorado residents or from businesses that sell tires.

Residents bringing tires will be required to provide their name, address, phone number and number of tires before they will be allowed to dump. Tires must be unloaded personally. There will not be anyone present to unload tires.

No tires will be accepted after August 25. The bid winner will be loading tires shortly after the event is over due to mosquito born diseases.
