Voters can now obtain early voting ballots

County Election Commissioner and Clerk Rita Long notified all registered voters by mail last week that they can request early voting ballots.

Long said with the onset of the COVID-19 and health directives now in place, voters can vote from home by requesting an early voting ballot.

Long said the form enclosed in the letter can be returned to her office either by mail, email or fax. The important thing, she said, is that the form is signed by the registered voter.

An early ballot cannot be requested by a phone call, she added.

Ballots will then be mailed to the registered voter.  She said the completed ballot can be returned by mail or depositing it in the drop box located at the east door of the courthouse.

The dropbox will only be available during regular business hours.

Early voting ballots must be returned to the clerk’s office by the 7 p.m. close of the polls on election day, Tuesday, May 12.

Long said the polls will be open at the Perkins County fairgrounds from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. May 12.
