Wallace Fall Festival this weekend

Wallace will be celebrating 130 years strong at this year’s fall festival on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 16 and 17. 

Saturday, Sept. 16

Starting on Saturday, Sept. 16, from 7-9 a.m. CT, there will be pancakes and sausage with a free-will donation served by the Wallace Fire Department at the fire hall. 

A fun run/walk will begin at 7:30 a.m. 

At the library from 8-9:45 a.m., there will be coffee and rolls, along with a book sale that will be held all day. 

From 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., a craft show and bake sale will take place at the American Legion.  

JT’s Gold Rush Kettle Corn, and Annie’s Latte Da will be available on main street all day. 

The parade will begin at 10 a.m. on main street. Lineup starts at the airport at 9 a.m. Sign up will be at the bank prior to Saturday. 

Grand marshal, old scout and good neighbor awards and the paint-your-bail winners will be announced during the parade. 

Kids races / toad and turtle races will be held at the parade stand on main street following the parade. Kids need to provide their own toad and turtle for the race.

From 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., pulled pork and hot dogs will be served at the community hall. Free will donations will be accepted. Gabe, Syd and Kassidy will provide live music, sponsored by the Lions Club. 

A tractor pull will begin south of the park at 11:30 a.m.

At noon, a double-elimination coed volleyball tournament will take place in the school gym. 

The calcutta for team sorting will begin at 1 p.m., an hour before the main event, which takes place east of Mac’s Super Foods.

The kids will surely enjoy Fun Jumpz and kid games at the park from 1-3 p.m., along with Dusty Trails Petting Zoo from 1-4 p.m. west of Mac’s Super Foods, who sponsored the attraction. 

At 1 p.m., there will be an FFA activity at the basketball courts at the park. 

Rodeo fun events will take place at the roping arena at 1 p.m.

Malts, shakes, ice cream cones and sundaes will be available at the fire hall at 1 p.m.

From 2-3 p.m., a hot dog eating competition will take place on main street and Bingo will be played at the fire hall from 2-4 p.m.

A children’s play will be held at the community hall from 3:30-4:30 p.m. 

A barbecue will be provided by Sandhill Catering beginning at 4 p.m.

T’s Bar and Grill Beer Garden will be available on main street from 4 p.m. to 1 a.m. 

A tractor rodeo on main street will take place from 4-6 p.m., followed by round bale barrel racing from 6-7 p.m.

From 5-7 p.m. there will be a chili cook-off at the community hall. Proceeds will benefit Ron and Lila Edington. 

A teen dance for sixth to 12th graders at the community hall starts at 8:30 p.m. and ends at 11:30 p.m.

Southern Fryed Band will play the street dance on main street that will be held from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Sunday, Sept. 18

On Sunday, Sept. 18, from 10:30-11 a.m. there will be a coffee and muffin fellowship at the Wallace Hotel Diner, by the Wallace Community Church and Wallace Hotel.  

From 11 a.m. to noon, there will be a community-wide church service on main street at the parade stand. 

Team roping will finish off the weekend’s events at the roping arena at 2 p.m.
