Wallace to get new splash pad

The Wallace Wet Zone Committee held an informational meeting on Sunday, Oct. 1 at the pavilion in the Wallace park regarding a future splash pad in the park.

The committee had a diagram of the splash pad painted on the grass where the splash pad would be located east of the pavilion. They also had full height replicas of several of the proposed features of the splash pad so people could get an accurate idea of the feature sizes.

Also available were fact sheets for each of the 12 proposed water features. They include the command center, which is the control for the splash pad, two directional jets, tricky soaker, jet stream, fish, bucket trio, foaming geyser, spray loop, water jelly, and geyser. The fact sheets contained the price for each feature.

The committee is encouraging the communities in the surrounding area to join in raising the estimated $100,000 to fund this project by March 2019. The $100,000 is the total cost of the completed project. Construction on the splash pad will not begin until all the funds are available for the total project.

Anyone with questions is encouraged to contact a member of the committee.

Donations of labor, materials and money are being accepted. Money donations can be given to the City of Wallace and designated for the splash pad. A special account for the splash pad project has been established at the First Bank of Wallace.
