Western Sky board tours new facility
Ayars & Ayars is moving forward on construction of the Western Sky Community Care Center in Grant.
Project manager Ryan Wenn led a tour of the building for the Western Sky board members last week. Wenn, along with site superintendent Kevin Gaffney and First Insight consultant Tim Groshans, took board members on a walk-through of the building to talk about progress and the best use of space in certain areas. During the tour, the group finalized details on the layout of the chapel and activity room.
Groshans and his wife, Hayley, created the original design of the facility, which they have fine-tuned since implementing it at the nursing home they operated in Burwell. Ayars & Ayars worked with the Groshans on that project as well.
“The experience Ayars & Ayars has in building nursing homes has become evident,” board president Mark Bottom said after the tour. “They have years of experience at this, and it shows.”
Wenn said that despite a few rain delays since construction began in April, the project is on schedule. Window installation and roofing are the next steps. The board also discussed placement for a permanent sign.
The opening date for Western Sky’s 40-bed skilled nursing home is projected for early April 2026.
