Western Sky Grub Grab and Auction a success
The Western Sky Grub Grab and Auction drew around 175 people on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 4, at the Wheatland Wedding and Event Center in Madrid.
The Western Sky fundraising committee served a buffet of homemade selections, including pie and homemade ice cream. Cost was a freewill donation.
Individuals and businesses also donated more than 70 items for the auction. That event generated laughter and a few good-natured bidding wars.
The evening also included a surprise in the form of an anonymous matching grant, offered if $25,000 was raised throughout the evening. That goal was met and the matching grant secured.
Pinnacle Bank chose the event as an opportunity to present their final pledge amount of $35,000 for the project. (This amount was not included for the matching grant.)
Board president Mark Bottom expressed his gratitude to the community, on behalf of Western Sky. “We are not here without this community,” Bottom said. “Because of you, we are able to move forward with this project and do what many others only talk about.” See next week’s issue of the Tribune for more!
