WIC program available in Grant Aug. 15

The WIC (Women, Infants and Children) nutrition program will be in Grant at the United Methodist Church on Thursday, Aug. 15 and Thursday, Oct. 10.

The program provides free food and nutrition information to help keep pregnant women, infants and children under age five healthy and strong. 

To be eligible for WIC, participants must live in Nebraska, be pregnant, postpartum or breastfeeding women; an infant or child under five years of age; and have a household income that meets specific guidelines. 

Those receiving ADF, food stamps, Kid Connection or Medicaid benefits are automatically income eligible. 

Fathers, guardians or foster parents may apply for WIC for their children. 

Qualified participants will receive nutritional information and counseling and checks to buy foods such as milk, cheese, eggs, tuna, cereal, fruit, juice, fresh fruits and vegetables, infant formula, beans, bread and peanut butter.
