Work on Highway 61 in Chase County to begin Sept. 11

Weather permitting, a cold milling and armor coating project is scheduled to begin today, Sept. 11 on Highway 61 north of Imperial, according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation.

Cold milling is a process of removing deteriorated asphalt in preparation of placing an armor coat to improve the roadway surface and drivability.

State maintenance forces will be performing the cold milling and armor coating from Imperial to five miles south of the Chase / Perkins County line.

The work is anticipated to take approximately two weeks. One-lane traffic will occur with the use of a pilot car and flaggers. Motorists should expect to see delays and are reminded to drive cautiously through highway work zones.
