Arlene Minor

Arlene Catherine Minor, age 89 of Gordon, Nebraska passed away Saturday, May 21, 2022 at Highland Park in Alliance, Nebraska.

Arlene was born November 17, 1932 to Edward and Thelma (Zobel) Becker in Hyannis, Nebraska. She attended rural school north of Ashby. In 1946, she took part in the junior calf roping contest, she was the only girl to participate, competing against all boys from the sandhill ranches and she won the event. She was crowned Rodeo Queen of the Alliance rodeo in 1947.She finished her school years out by attending St. Agnes academy in Alliance, graduating in 1950. She then won the Western States Cutting Horse Association and numerous other cutting horse competitions. Her favorite cutting horse was Speedster. 

On September 22, 1953 she married Dick Minor in Mullen, Nebraska and made their home south of Hyannis. They then moved north of Hyannis to the Minor-Jorgenson ranch where they raised their family and lived their entire married life.

Arlene is survived by her daughter, Debbie Minor of Alliance, Nebraska; three sons, Joe (Kris) Minor of Hyannis, Nebraska, Ed (special friend Roxie Hendrix) Minor of Gordon, Nebraska, Dick (Linda) Minor, Jr. of Gordon, Nebraska, and sister, Charlene (Gary) Hebbert of Roswell, New Mexico and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is proceeded in death by her husband Dick; both her parents; daughter, Diana Wheelock; four sisters, Dolores Valentine, Darlene Bonifield, Maxine Morris, and Irene Lowe; brother, Ed Becker, and two infant brothers; and one grandson, Dale Kimble. 

Funeral services were held at The Church of the Sandhills; Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at 2:00 PM in Hyannis, Nebraska with Pastor Ray Monahan officiating.

Internment took place at the Hyannis Cemetery, in Hyannis.

A memorial has been established in honor of Arlene for the Hyannis Ambulance squad.
