Edith “Kathie” Katherine (Collins) Lewis, 90, life-long resident of North Platte, NE passed away on Monday, May 30, 2022 at Linden Court.

She was born on February 5, 1932 in North Platte the daughter of Clifford J. and Edith M. (Smith) Collins.

Kathie graduated from North Platte High School class of 1950. She married Robert L. Lewis on October 6, 1950 in North Platte and to this union five children were born.  

Kathie was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She worked for a brief time as a floral designer and was a part-time secretary at the Game and Parks Commission.  She was a co-owner, secretary and bookkeeper along with her husband Robert at B & K landscaping. 

She was a member of the Episcopal Church of Our Savior, RSVP, Sarah Rebekah Lodge #10 (60 yrs), B.P.O. Does, R & R club, Eagles Auxiliary, 4-H leader (dog club), and Saturday morning/Monday birthday club.  

She enjoyed playing cards with her friends. She was an avid reader, and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, cooking, gardening, and traveling.  Kathie was also a writer who wrote several poems as well as a family cookbook for her children.

Those left to cherish Kathie’s memory are daughters, Karen Christiansen of North Platte, Katherine “Kathy” (Doug) Schroder of Grant, and Bonnie (Heinz) Walter of Omaha; sons, Robert (Deb) Lewis of Tyler, TX, and Mark (Alexandra) Lewis of Cozad; grandchildren, Scott (Kristy) Lewis, Brian (Susan) Kramer, Matt (Suzanne) Kramer, Chris Schroder, Stephanie Smith, Robin Quinn, Leslie Harms and Katie (Derek) Walter; great-grandchildren, Wyatt Quinn, Gavin Kramer, Riggin Smith, Cord Smith, Alyssa Kramer, Elleigh Kramer, Lilly Kramer, Jaci Smith, Katherine Harms and Addelyn Lewis; and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her special companion dog “Shantel.”

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; brothers, Wayne, Don, Ernest, and Verlin Collins; sister, Loraine Cochran; sisters-in-law, Barb and Bonnie Collins; brother-in-law, Jess Cochran; and by companion dogs, “Tina” and “Suzi.”

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 2, 2022 at Carpenter Memorial Chapel. Visitation was from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 1 at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, which has been entrusted with the arrangements. Private burial will be at Plainview Cemetery in Maxwell. Memorials may be made to the North Platte Senior Center.
