Heather C. Malmkar, 47, of Grant, passed away Wednesday, December 4, 2019, at the Perkins County Community Hospital in Grant.

Heather was born on November 8, 1972, in Grant to Collin and Jeannie (Stevens) Malmkar. She grew up and attended school in Grant, graduating in 1991 from Perkins County High School. Heather pursued her college career at Frontier School of the Bible in LaGrange, Wyoming, for two years. While attending, she left a lasting impression on all people there and paved the way for future families to follow in her footsteps, learning what a treasure it is to study the depth of God’s Word. She returned to Grant to work in the dietary department at the hospital for 22 years. During that time, she made countless invaluable friendships with so many. She loved her family at Perkins County Community Hospital and was so thankful for everyone’s kindness, especially during her diagnosis of and fight with cancer starting in 2016, forcing her into early retirement.

Heather enjoyed crocheting blankets for anyone and everyone, including strangers in need across the county and world. Heather prayed for each individual recipient as she worked hours to complete each blanket.

Those who knew her for raising their beloved Bichon Frise knew how much love and care the little puppies had received before they reached the arms of their forever homes. She also had a love and special appreciation for the beauty of horses. Heather loved her nieces and nephews always watching out for them, surprising them with gifts to In and Out or Hatch’s just to remind them how much she cared. Heather was always one of the first to pay a visit to her niece’s or nephew’s newest pet addition to the family.

Heather’s faith was very important to her. She asked Jesus into her heart on January 2, 1977, and later was baptized on September 27, 1986. Anyone who knew Heather knew her foundation and hope was in Jesus Christ, her Savior, and Lord.

Heather is survived by her parents, Collin and Jeannie Malmkar of Grant; brothers, Shannon and wife Teresa Malmkar and Jarret and wife Cindy Malmkar all of Grant; nieces and nephews, Zachary, Joshua and Alyssa Malmkar, Emily (Brett) Thomas, Alex (Bethany) Malmkar and their daughters, Brooke and Hannah, Dylan (Kristen) Malmkar, Natalia Malmkar, Joseph Malmkar, and Monica Akumu.

A memorial in Heather’s name has been established to Frontier School of the Bible.  Condolences may be shared at bullocklongfuneralhome.com.

Funeral Services were held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 6, 2019, at the Grant Evangelical Free Church with Pastor Russ Gaar officiating. Burial  followed in the Grant Fairview Cemetery.
