Larry D. Comer, 84, died Jan. 7, 2022, at a Rapid City, South Dakota hospital. He was born Oct. 25, 1937, in Ogallala, Nebraska, the son of Merle Max and Laura Maude (Rumsey) Comer.
Larry graduated from Brule High School, class of 1955. After high school, he went to college at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. During college, he met Sandra Spath at a dance in Ogallala and knew this would be his future wife. They married in Elsie, on Nov. 10, 1957. Larry worked at Brule for Wayne Frates as a hired man.  He and Sandra later moved to the farm at Elsie, where they raised their four children. Larry loved farming and working with his neighbors and friends. Larry had served on the school board at Elsie and was also a youth leader for the Methodist Church. Larry and Sandra were married 56 years before Sandra’s passing in 2013.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Sandra Segatti and Cheryl Cleaver; and wife Sandra.
Surviving are his son, Steve Comer and wife Julie of Rapid City, South Dakota and daughters Susan Diehl and husband Rod of Longview, Texas, Tammy Niehaus and husband TJ of Gilbert, Arizona and Sarah Weisbrook and husband Mark of Bushnell; ten grandchildren Krista Hadi, Eric Glunz, Matthew Weisbrook, Jaclyn Klinginsmith, Cody Diehl, Beau Diehl, Brad Weisbrook, Ryan Comer, Macy Diehl and Nathan Comer; 10 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Jerry Cleaver; and many nieces and nephews.
A service of remembrance will be held at the Elsie United Methodist Church on Saturday, Feb. 26, 2022, at 10 a.m. Inurnment will follow in the Elsie Cemetery. A lunch at the Legion Hall in Elsie will follow.
