Grant City Manager Ed Dunn detailed the progress of the downtown renovation project in a presentation at the most recent Perkins County Chamber of Commerce meeting, Thursday, Nov. 10.

The first phase of the project, which began in September, is nearly halfway complete, with the replacement of sidewalks, curbs and gutters reaching 5th street on the east side of Central Avenue.

The next phase, which entails the installation of 28 light poles, began this week. The poles are being installed by Potts Electric, with assistance from Great Plains Communications and Midwest Electric, in the empty spaces left in the new sidewalks. Once the poles have set, concrete will be filled in and illumination fixtures will be added.
