Summer Chamber events are success

The Perkins County Chamber of Commerce meeting was held Thursday, Aug. 18 at 12 noon. Thirteen members were present for lunch at the Perkins County Senior Center.

4th of July

The 4th of July was a great success at the Grant City Park. The annual Fun Run, hosted by Image Total Fitness, had 240 participants, and was a great way to start off the morning. 

Breakfast, served by the Perkins County School Foundation, kicked off the rest of the day’s events, which included the following: sand volleyball, car show, FFA slushies and cornhole tournament, horseshoe tournament, free swimming, lunch by City of Grant, rib cookoff, Evangelical Free Church serving popcorn, cotton candy and water, rib cookoff and firework show. 

Matt Chandler-Smith did a great job with music and tree board had a fun trivia. The huge crowd was also treated to Bango music during the day.

Perkins County Fair

The Perkins County fair, with the theme “County Pride, County Wide”, was held July 18-23 with the Perkins County Chamber serving a free breakfast on July 21, from 6-8 a.m. Approximately 165 were served. The Chamber thanks everyone who came and enjoyed a delicious breakfast. 

Good Neighbor this year was Mike and Donna Mayer and Grand Marshall was Tom and Barb Tines.

On August 5 the City of Grant held its annual Cruise Night with free hot dogs, chips and drink. Approximately 20 vehicles participate in the event.

First Dollar

A First Dollar has been presented to the Dana F Cole accounting firm. Talon Gorgen and Kadie Thelander will be in Grant at their new office located at 114 Central Ave. Chris Fryzek will also join them from time-to-time. The Dana F. Cole office can be reached by calling 308-352-4967. Office hours are Monday-Friday 7 am.-4 p.m.

Yard of the Month

Chamber started a new Yard of the Month for this summer. Chris Wendell was our pick for July and Clifford and Janie Colglazier for August. We will pick one more winner in September.

Bingo Night

Mark you calendar now for Bingo night, to be held on Tuesday, Sept. 20, at the Perkins County Senior Center from 6-8 p.m. Admission is a canned food item for the food pantry. Winners will receive Grant Greenbacks.

Members Sought

All Perkins County businesses are encouraged to get involved with their local Chamber of Commerce. The organization exists to promote growth for all Perkins County businesses. For more information, contact any Chamber member, or come to our next meeting, Thursday, Sept. 15, at 12 noon, Perkins County Senior Center.
