Western Sky CCC receives $100,000 challenge grant

Western Sky Community Care Center has received a challenge grant in the amount of $100,000 from an anonymous donor to continue its efforts to build a nursing home facility in Grant.

The challenge grant means any donation that Western Sky receives between Jan. 4 and Feb. 15, 2023, will be matched, dollar-for-dollar, up to $100,000, according to WSCCC Member Mark Bottom.

Doris Olsen, who serves as fund raising director for Western Sky, received the offer for the matching funds through a phone call last week.

“I was so excited, and surprised,” Olsen said. “I feel invigorated to go out and continue talking with people about giving.”

Olsen said the community continues to show “strong support” for the effort to restore nursing home care to Perkins County.

She said community donations and pledges for the proposed nursing home have climbed to more than $950,000.

Olsen urged those who are considering a gift to donate now, during the matching funds campaign.

Those who wish to give may contact Olsen at 308-352-6308, or see Steve Loeffler or Dennis Demmel. They may also take donations directly to Michelle Ross at Pinnacle Bank in Grant. Checks should be made to CMHC FBO Western Sky. Donations can be mailed to Western Sky CCC, P.O Box 966, Grant, NE 69140.
