Vitol Inc. acquires full ownership of Mid America Agri Products / Wheatland, LLC and Mid America Bio Energy & Commodities, LLC

Mid America Agri Products / Wheatland, LLC (“MAAPW”), and its parent company, Mid America Bio Energy & Commodities, LLC (“MABE”), have been sold to Vitol Inc, according to information from Vitol’s website. MAPPW operates a 50 MMgy ethanol plant in Madrid, Neb. 

According to an article in Ethanol Producer Magazine, MAAPW was founded by late ethanol industry pioneer Robert “Bob” Lundeen. The facility began operations in 2007, producing corn ethanol and coproducts. The company in late 2017 received approval from the U.S. EPA to produce cellulosic ethanol from corn kernel fiber. MAAPW has continued to innovate, and in 2025 became the first customer to deliver CO2 to Tallgrass’ Trailblazer Pipeline for permanent sequestration in Wyoming.

According to its website, Vitol has been a shareholder in MAAPW and the exclusive marketer of MAAPW ethanol since 2018, and the acquisition on Jan. 16 reflects Vitol’s ongoing commitment to the renewable fuels sector and its confidence in the future of ethanol as a key component of the energy transition.

The Tribune-Sentinel reached out to Vitol and to Mid America Agri Products / Wheatland, LLC (“MAAPW”) for more comment and information, but did not hear back from either by press time.
