PCS claims SPVA Quiz Bowl title
The Perkins County Quiz Bowl team captured the SPVA Quiz Bowl Title March 21 with a perfect 6-0 day at North Platte St. Pat’s.
PCS defeated Chase County 75-25, Hershey 100-35, Sutherland 55-35, NPSP 80-30, Kimball 75-0 and Bridgeport 75-15.
Sutherland finished second, and Bridgeport was third.
Coach Deanne Bishop said, in total, seven of the 10 team members correctly answered at least one toss-up question.
“All members contributed to correct answers on bonus questions. Today’s conference championship was a team effort,” Bishop said.
Participating team members included co-captains Jeb Kohl and Meghan Bishop, Joe Malmkar, Alyssa Malmkar, Emme Sims, Gavin Smith, Eli Busick, Meredith Gloy, Mason McGreer and Ryder Potts.
Quiz Bowl season will continue at the ESU 16 District Tournament Thursday. The double-elimination, bracket-style tournament will be held at the Bethel Church in North Platte.
The top two teams at this meet will qualify for the state meet.
