Competition making Wildcat tracksters better
The Wallace track teams jumped right into their seasons with the 12-team Hershey/St. Pat’s Invite Saturday.
Wildcat Head Coach Danielle Snider said the meet went great.
The boys’ team placed fifth and the girls’ team was sixth.
“There were a lot of competitive schools there, something that our athletes need as it helps them thrive,” Snider said.
Out of the returning athletes from last year, the boys’ team had 12 personal records and the girls’ team had eight.
Trey Robertson paced the boys’ side with first place finishes in the 1,600- and 3,200-meter runs.
Second place finishes went to Kendyl Flaming, 400 meters; Carson Glunz, 100 meters; and Kyler Flaming, 300-meter hurdles.
Snider said the girls 4x8 is a hot commodity in Wallace right now.
“Six girls are competing in a run off every week to see who gets to compete on it. I am excited to see how it grows over the season,” Snider said.
The Wildcats will head to Sutherland Saturday.
Snider said she would appreciate a day without wind.
“I am hoping for the athletes to compete to keep competing with a competitive edge and to keep improving every meet,” she added.
