Plainsmen split games with Maxwell, SP

The Perkins County boys’ basketball team had one win slip through its fingers last week, but enjoyed a big win on Senior Night Saturday.
Maxwell
PCS started off the week Tuesday at Maxwell.
The Plainsmen got 3s from Triston Hite and Blake Garner in the first quarter, but found themselves tied at 14 with Maxwell after the game’s first eight minutes.
Perkins County needed all the long range shooting it could get in the second quarter. Hunter Garner rattled in two three pointers and Hite and B. Garner each added another three pointer. Maxwell made three 3s of its own and PCS went to the locker room hanging onto a 29-28 lead.
PCS was unable to gain any separation in the second half.
H. Garner made two more 3s and B. Garner added one from behind the arc. Despite their efforts, the Plainsmen still only led by one point, 42-41.
Maxwell finished out the game with its best offensive quarter, scoring 18 points.
On the other end, H. Garner made his fifth three pointer of the game and Hayden Foster made three field goals. PCS combined to make 4-6 free throws in the quarter, but came out on the short end of the stick, losing 57-59.
H. Garner led four Plainsmen in double figures with 19 points. Foster totaled 13 in the game, while B. Garner scored 12 points and Hite 11 points.
