Wildcats hitting their stride as postseason approaches

Wallace athletes claimed four RPAC individual titles and two runners up at Thursday conference championships in Bertrand.
Facing several schools that have almost twice as many athletes, Wallace Head Coach Danielle Snider said she is extremely happy with the Wildcat teams.
“This just shows how capable our athletes can be” Snider said.
Mariah Gardner was a double champion for Wallace, winning the 1,600 and 3,200-meter runs. Snider complimented Gardner’s competitive nature and work ethic.
Carson Glunz was first in the 200-meter dash and second in the 100-meter dash. Both of his times were personal bests. Snider said RPAC was the best Glunz has competed all year.
Kendyl Flaming won the 100-meter hurdles and was second in the 300-meter hurdles. Flaming also ran PRs in both events.
Snider said Flaming craves competition.
“She has always put in the time and effort to compete at her best effort. She has big goals this season, and I have no doubt that she will reach them,” Snider said.
Five of the Wildcats’ six relays placed.
“I am very proud of the girls that placed in top six of the 3200. The reflection of the their hard work in practice shows up on the track, and the track doesn’t lie,” Snider said.
“With the exception of one relay, all of the athlete’s relays PR’d that day. I think the benefit for the 4x1’s was the smooth hand-offs,” Snider said, adding the girls’ 4x4 the PR’d by ten seconds.
Up next
Snider said she just wants her athletes to keep improving and to stay healthy as the season goes on.
Wallace did have some entries in the Best of the Midwest Tuesday. Results will be available in next week’s paper.
The Wildcats will head to Benkelman Friday for the Dundy County Stratton Twilight to wrap up the regular season.
Districts will be May 12 in Cambridge.
