Brian Brassfield has been hired to serve as Assistant Perkins County Roads Superintendent.

Brassfield has worked for the county’s road department for two-and-a-half-years, and said he has enjoyed learning the ins-and-outs of the department.

“I started as part-time in the mowing operations, and have worked my way up to where I am today,” Brassfield said. “I think Perkins County has great leadership in place from the commissioners, sheriff, clerk, to the superintendent.”

Brassfield graduated from Ogallala High School in 1995, and has experience in driving truck and running equipment. He said he is excited about his new position.

“I am dedicated to the safety and interests of the people in the county, which is what the county is all about and I am excited to be a part of that,” Brassfield said.

Brassfield said his job description won’t change much.

“I will keep improving the roads, fixing and replacing signs, mowing the ditches, and I will continue to train and teach safety to my crew of whom I really enjoy working with,” he said. “I look forward to learning the duties of the assistant superintendent.”

Serving under Roads Superintendent Steve Leimer, Brassfield will manage daily operations on one side of the County, follow the commissioners’ directions, and adhere to Leimer’s guidance. Leimer said Brassfield will lead the department in his absence to ensure that all State Statutes are followed, and to support the professional management of the county roads department.

“I worked with Brian for a few years. There are many positive things I can say about him, but I’ll highlight a few. I believe he genuinely wants what is best for the County, including ongoing service improvements and road maintenance standards, and he isn’t afraid to take responsibility for his actions and those of his coworkers,” Leimer said.

Brassfield is married to Elizabeth and together they have two adult kids and one new grandbaby.
