Fiber art show featured at Meadowlark Gallery this month

The fiber art show, “Degrees of Transparency” is showcased at Meadowlark Gallery in Grant during the month of August.

Opening Weekend Friday, Aug. 5 and Saturday, Aug. 6, the show will also include a special display by Blume Design Studio of Grant.

Midwest Fiber Art Alliance (MFAA) is a group of 15 award winning textile artists from the Omaha and Lincoln area.

For over 10 years MFAA has been hosting shows across the state of Nebraska.

These artists explore textile manipulation and the diversity of mixed media as an art form.

Artist and show coordinator Cynthia Levis hand delivered over 25 pieces of one-of-a-kind textile art. Levis said, “I always enjoy visiting community art galleries in Nebraska.”

“Looking at art is never just about looking,” said Levis. “As your eyes meet the graphic displays, ideas emerge. In fact, art happens the moment that you start thinking about what you’re looking at or noticing your emotional responses.”

The Arts Council created Meadowlark Gallery in 2003 to promote art in Perkins County and the region.

Meadowlark is promoted and hosted by community volunteers every Friday and Saturday evenings from 5-7.
