Good food, good fun, for a good cause

Fund raiser brings in approximately $156,000 for new elder care home

The efforts put forth by the Mennonite communities in Perkins County and Paxton to raise funds for the newly formed organization Western Sky Community Care Center paid off big time over the weekend during a brisket supper put on by the groups. Approximately $156,000 was raised on Saturday, Nov. 5.  Above, left, Patty Clough looks over a silent auction items.  Above, right, the food line was busy most of the evening with approximately 730 people taking part in the event, which was held at the Perkins County Fairgrounds. A meal of brisket, salad, baked beans, roll and homemade pie for dessert was served for a free-will donation. The silent auction that was held during the event brought in approximately $7,000 of the total amount raised. Those who were not able to make the meal, but who would like to donate to Western Sky, can do so at Pinnacle Bank in Grant.
