Incumbents Cameron Sis, Tierney Petersen file for2026 Primary Election

Filing deadline for incumbents is Feb. 17, non-incumbents is March 2

Perkins County has two new filings as of Monday, Feb. 2 for the 2026 Primary Election. Cameron J. Sis filed for Perkins County School Board, and Tierney L. Petersen for Grant City Council, according to Perkins County Clerk James Brueggeman. Filing deadlines for the Primary Election are Feb. 17 for incumbents and March 2 for non-incumbents. This year’s primary election is on May 12

The Perkins County School Board has a total of three seats up for reelection this year. Besides Sis, the other two seats are now filled by Chris Fryzek and Tori Gengenbach, who have not yet filed, while the Grant City Council has two seats up, with both incumbents, Petersen and Andrea Brueggeman, refiling. Also up for reelection this year is the City of Grant’s Mayor seat. So far incumbent Mayor Lisa Schmitt has not filed, but incumbent City Council member Sam Sims has filed for the mayor position.

Others who have filed in Perkins County besides Sis and Petersen, and the offices they have filed for, are as follows: Perkins County Attorney, Richard Roberts; Perkins County Assessor, Regina Berry; Perkins County Clerk, James Brueggeman; Perkins County Sheriff, Jeffrey Miller; Perkins County Treasurer, Julie Sestak; Perkins County Commissioner District 3, Steve Tucker; City of Grant’s Mayor, Sam Sims; Perkins County Commissioner District 2, Mark Bottom; City of Grant Council Member, Andrea Brueggeman.

All Local/County Offices up for Reelection

The local and county offices up for reelection this year in Perkins County, and their current office-holders, include the following: Attorney-Rick Roberts, Assessor-Peggy Burton, Clerk-James Brueggeman, Sheriff-Scott Miller, Treasurer-Julie Sestak, Commissioners in District 2-Mark Bottom, and District 3-Steve Tucker, City of Grant Mayor-Lisa Schmitt, two City of Grant Council Members-Andrea Brueggeman and Tierney Petersen, three Perkins County Public Schools Board- Chris Fryzek, Cameron Sis, and Tori Gengenbach, and three Perkins County Hospital Board Members- Jeffrey Skeels, Melissa Wilson, and Marcia Shalla.

The General Election in November will see positions up for all three village boards including the following: Venango-Christina Farnsworth, Cody Miller, and Dennis Ekdahl; Madrid-Kamryn Loy and Jennifer Baumgartner; and Elsie-Doug Curtis and Vic Perez.

Those wanting to run for a village office have until July 15 to file for incumbents, and Aug. 3 for non-incumbents.

Filing for local elections is completed at the county clerk’s office at the courthouse, while statewide candidates can find paperwork to file on the Secretary of State’s website or in-person in Lincoln.

Voter Registration

Voter deadlines for the final day for in-person voter registration and absentee ballot applications for the primary election is May 1.
