Pankonin, Day, Wendell and Lee throw hats into primary election race as non-incumbent deadline passes
Four more non-incumbents have added their names for positions up for 2026 elections in Perkins County before the deadline passed on Monday, March 2, according to Perkins County Clerk James Brueggeman.
New filers and the offices they have filed for include the following: Leon D. Pankonin, Perkins County Commissioner District 2; Lori A. Day, Perkins County Hospital Board; Marlin D. Wendell, City of Grant – Mayor; Traci L. Lee, Perkins County Schools Board.
Those wanting to run for village boards still have until July 15 to file for incumbents, and Aug. 3 for non-incumbents. Village races will only appear on the general election. Filing for local elections is completed at the county clerk’s office at the courthouse.

The general election in November will see positions up for all three village boards including the following: Venango-Christina Farnsworth, Troy Grotham, and Dennis Ekdahl; Madrid-Kamryn Loy and Jennifer Baumgartner; and Elsie-Doug Curtis and Vic Perez.
Filing for local elections is completed at the county clerk’s office at the courthouse, while statewide candidates can find paperwork to file on the Secretary of State’s website or in-person in Lincoln.
Voter Registration
Voter deadlines for the final day for in-person voter registration and absentee ballot applications for the primary election is May 1.
