PC Fair board dishes up “Whiskey on Ice” this Friday

July isn’t the only time that the Perkins County Fair Board is busy trying to put together a little fun for Perkins County, and this year, they decided to shake things up in January.

With an updated dance hall, the board thought it was a perfect time to put the space to use.

“Whiskey on Ice” is a concert that will be held this Friday night at the Perkins County Fairgrounds, where the fair board have invited Whiskey Bent to put on a show.

“Known for its high-energy shows, tight instrumentals and Tim Zach’s strong vocals, Whiskey Bent is a five-man country rock band based in central Nebraska. In addition to Zach, Whiskey Bent is made up of Jeff Westwood (guitar), Jeff Wilson (drums), Joe Parr (guitar, mandolin, harmonica) and Kevin Galvan (bass). Westwood and Wilson have been with the band since it formed in 2009.

“Whiskey Bent writes and performs its own music and covers a variety of top artists that include Eric Church, Brantley Gilbert, Dierks Bentley, Jake Owen, Johnny Cash and more,” their website reads.

“Garth Brooks meets Metallica. We’re country with crunch,” explains Zach. “We like to push the limits with songs and bring a rock attitude to every song we play.”

The Perkins County Fair Board has been working hard on updating the grounds and bringing the site back to modern life and looks forward to the opportunity to show off some of their progress, while providing some entertainment for the community.

Kitchen, bathroom and floors have all had some work done, as well as paint throughout the hall, which doesn’t include the updates outside that won’t play so much into this concert, but many fairs and events in the future.

“It really is starting to come together and we have a great team working really hard to keep taking things to the next level. Perkins County can be proud of the effort that is being putting in for our community,” board member Kasey Kroeker said.

The public is invited to head over to the Fairgrounds at 8:30 p.m. and Whiskey Bent will go on at 9.

The band will play until 12 a.m. and a cash bar will be offered.
