Chris Bruns, the Perkins County GOP endorsed candidate for Dist. 42 Legislature, speaks at the Republican Convention at Zion Lutheran Church Sunday, March 20

Republican convention held March 20

Speaking during the Perkins County Republican Convention held on Sunday, March 20 in the Zion Lutheran Church in Grant, was Nebraska District 42 Legislative Candidate Chris Bruns. Bruns shared with the committee his three-pronged focus if elected to the Nebraska Legislature, which will be economic growth; addressing the rural/urban divide and fighting for the small communities; and defending Americans’ individual liberties and the Constitution. Bruns has received the PC GOP Committee’s endorsement.
Bruns said he feels the federal government is too large, and it would be his goal to help shrink it. He is especially for election integrity and bringing control of the Nebraska Department of Education back to the people.
Bruns also spoke of the importance of water in the state and how it will be a hot-button issue in the years to come. Bruns thanked the committee for allowing him to speak and for their endorsement, he also passed out yard signs.
Bruns’ phone number is 308-660-6049 for those who have questions for him.
Other Business
Bruns spoke during the evening to 17 delegates from Perkins County and two from Chase County. Several items of business were accomplished during the evening, including election of officers.
Being elected as Chairman for the 2022-23 year was Melissa Sauder. Bob McCune was named Vice-Chairman, Becky Uehling Secretary, and Sylvia Dudo Treasurer.
Nominated as delegate to represent the Perkins County Committee at the State GOP Convention on July 8-9 was Dave Jantzen, with Sauder being named as alternate.
Sauder presented for consideration adoption of a Constitution for the Perkins County Nebraska Republican Party, along with a Restoring Voter Confidence in Nebraska’s Elections and Election Integrity Resolution. Both were passed by the delegates.
In the coming weeks before the Primary Election, the committee will publish a slate of candidates it is endorsing along with a map of the county’s voting districts to assist residents to know what districts they are voting in. Sauder said she would work on this with the committee’s other elected officers.
Two delegates from Chase County were present at the meeting because of a lack of a committee in Chase County. Delegate Ted Tietjen suggested the Perkins County Committee check with the State GOP Office to see if the two Chase County members could be invited to become members of the Perkins. Sauder said she would check on it.
The next meeting of the Perkins County GOP Committee will be on Sunday, April 10 at 6:30 at Zion Lutheran Church in Grant.
