Town Hall meeting for new elder care home is Monday

Western Sky Community Care Center will give an update this Monday, Oct. 17, 6:30 p.m. at the Perkins County Fairgrounds on its efforts to open an elder care facility in Grant.

The meeting will be the second town hall event for the newly formed organization, with the focus on steps forward and fundraising. 

Three keynote speakers will be present at the meeting to give insight into what the future could look like for WSCCC. Two of the speakers, Dr. Hugh Holmquist and Dr. Tim Garner, DDS, are from Burwell, and are associated with the Burwell Community Care Center, a facility that WSCCC is fiscally partnering with and emulating as it seeks to build its own. 

The third speaker will be Tim Groshans, also from Burwell, who is a long-term care consultant advising the WSCCC group and who manages the Burwell Care Center. Groshans will speak on how his model of efficiency and employee focused work atmosphere has led him to successfully consult several Nebraska nursing homes. 

Dr. Holmquist, who was born and raised in Garfield County and has served as the medical director at the Burwell care center for 29 years, will discuss his role. Dr. Holmquist also has a family practice in Burwell. 

Dr. Garner, a dentist from Burwell who has been the president of the Board at the Burwell care center for the past 11 years, will speak on his experiences. Dr. Garner also has a general dentistry practice in Burwell, and has a rich military history.
