Main Street’s trees will have to be removed for Grant’s downtown renovation to begin soon. Interested persons may adopt them.

The trees gotta go

With the impending downtown improvement project in Grant, the public is invited to remove and relocate any of the downtown trees on Central Ave. between 1st and 5th streets.
The trees need to be removed to bury the overhead electrical wires and replace the curb, gutter, and sidewalk to the businesses.
Tree removal needs to be done prior to May 1, and will be at the expense of the individual removing the tree. The city does not have the equipment (tree spade) to remove the trees and/or relocate them.
Whomever the individual chooses to remove the tree will need to provide proof of liability insurance to the city prior to the tree(s) being removed. This will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
No extensions will be given to the May 1 time frame so that the timeline of this project can be met.
Please contact Edward Dunn at City Hall 308-352-2100 Monday-Friday 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. for further information on what trees are available.
Details on the downtown improvement project will be published in a future issue of the Tribune-Sentinel.
