Venango Village Board discusses Spring cleanup, dog licensing, and infrastructure

The Village of Venango Board of Trustees met for its regular monthly meeting on April 8, 2025, at the town hall. Chairman Thomas Tines called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m., noting that a quorum was present with board members Troy Grothman, Cody Miller, and Dennis Ekdahl in attendance. Christina Farnsworth was absent.

Public notice of the meeting had been posted at the town hall, the community bulletin board, and the post office. The agenda was made available at the town hall, and a copy of the Open Meetings Act was on hand for reference.

Minutes and Treasurer’s Report Approved

The board unanimously approved the minutes from the March 11 meeting. Treasurer Cody Miller presented the financial report, which was also accepted by unanimous vote. As of March 31, the village’s checking account held a balance of $84,000. The CRA/TIF account totaled $418,207.75, and the Keno account balance stood at $99,724.00.

Utility Updates and Community Planning

Routine reports on water, sewer, trash, and streets were presented. The board discussed ongoing updates related to the new well, as well as plans for a community dog licensing clinic. Crosswalk improvements were also addressed as a potential future project.

In preparation for seasonal maintenance, the board approved a motion to include spring cleanup reminders in the May utility billing cycle. The initiative aims to encourage residents to tidy properties and remove debris.

Public Forum and Financial Business

Four community members participated in the public forum held at 8:45 p.m. Following the forum, the board reviewed correspondence and approved payment of monthly bills totaling several thousand dollars for utilities, trash services, water testing, law enforcement, payroll, and office supplies.

Notable expenses included $3,826.75 to the Perkins County Treasurer for law enforcement services and $2,076.82 to Waste Connections for trash collection.

Meeting Adjournment and Next Session

Cody Miller made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 8:58 p.m., with Grothman seconding. The motion passed unanimously.

The next regular meeting of the Village of Venango Board of Trustees will take place on May 13, 2025, at 7:30 p.m. in the town hall meeting room.
