Veteran’s Day programs planned

This year’s Veterans Day observance in Grant will feature Pam Murphy, retired U.S. Navy veteran.

The 63rd annual observance of Veterans Day will be Monday, Nov. 11 at 10:30 a.m. at the Perkins County High School. This year’s event is hosted by American Legion Post No. 271, Madrid.

The Perkins County High School Band, under the direction of Jasmine Lehl, will perform the National Anthem.

Bernard Heinemann of American Legion Post No. 271 in Madrid will offer the welcome and introduce the post commanders.

This year’s Boys and Girls State representatives will also be introduced.

One minute of silence for deceased veterans will precede the featured presentation by Pam Murphy.

After a musical presentation by the high school band and vocalists, the roll of deceased veterans will be called, followed by “Taps,” the benediction and retiring of colors.

A free pizza dinner in the multi-purpose room will follow the program and is sponsored by the Madrid, Grant, Venango and Elsie American Legion Posts.

Elementary Program

Perkins County Elementary School will be hosting a breakfast of donuts and breakfast casseroles at the elementary school at 8 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 11.

A program performed by the students will follow in the gym at 9 a.m.
