Youth can explore 4H at upcoming resource night
With spring comes the kick-off of 4-H in counties across Nebraska, including Perkins. An upcoming Project Resource Night at the Perkins County Fairgrounds on Saturday, April 9, will help youth explore the different projects 4-H has to offer, and provide assistance for those who would like to sign up for 4-H.
The event will be from 5-7:30 p.m. and pizza will be provided to all attendants by the 4-H Council, which is sponsoring the evening.
Taking the place of what was a skating kick-off night over the past few years, the Project Resource Night’s goal is to open the eyes of new and experienced 4-Hers to the potential of what 4-H has a to offer, according to Extension Educator Debbie Kuenning.
The night will feature area experts on various projects such as cooking, sewing, photography, and others like hiking, camping, and backpacking.
Also on hand will be some of the animals that can be shown in the livestock categories. Youth and their families will be able to interact with the animals and become more familiar with them, Kuenning said.
“We want any youth and their parents to come and learn about the projects, ask questions, get ideas, improve
what they are already doing, or learn something new,” Kuenning said. “Bring a friend who wants to learn more about 4-H.”
