Chosen is the senior of the month for April is Casey Uehling of rural Grant.

Casey is the son of Aaron and Becky Uehling.

Throughout high school, Casey has been active in many activities, including FFA, football, basketball and track.

Outside of school, Casey has participated in activities at Zion Lutheran Church, 4-H, has been a hunter and fisherman and has worked for Uehling Well Service and Ride Rite Garage through work study and after school.

Through his work at Uehling Well, Casey said he learned the importance of water in society, and how to work hard.

Working at Ride Rite taught Casey a good work ethic, the importance of customer service, a deeper appreciation for the profession of mechanics, being punctual and completing a job.

His upcoming graduation from Perkins County High School and being a good friend and classmate are accomplishments that Casey is most proud of.

He appreciates the small town atmosphere he was raised in, valuing the strong relationships he has developed, as well as the teachers’ one-on-one attention to students.

“Perkins County has been my home my whole life and I love it here,” Casey said. “Being part of a tight-knit community has allowed me to appreciate the values and morals that only a small town atmosphere can give.”

After graduation, Casey will attend Southeast Community College in Milford and study automotive technology. He plans to return to the Southwest Nebraska area after earning his degree.

“Through work with my dad, along with James Deaver, I feel I have been able to give back to Perkins County through my strong work ethic in these areas and I hope to give back even more when I return after college.”
