If the school mascot was the Tigers, the Wallace volleyball team beat them last week.

The Wildcats beat the Paxton Tigers twice and the Dundy County Stratton Tigers over the span of four days.

Wallace traveled to Paxton Oct. 4, beating Paxton 25-18, 26-24 and sweeping DCS 25-8, 25-9.

Wallace beat Paxton once more to celebrate homecoming Friday 25-21, 25-18, 26-24.

Head Coach Krystal Sauser said the girls had an exciting Homecoming night against Paxton for the second time.

“The JV girls started the night off with a win. The varsity girls started the match aggressively on offense sealing the win in three straight sets, giving our two seniors Karlie Finley and Angie Vazquez a win for senior night and homecoming,” she said.

The Wildcats final regular season games were Tuesday at a triangular in Garden County with the Eagles (14-8) and Potter-Dix (19-3).

Sauser said it will be a tough triangular.  Wallace has beaten Potter-Dix once this season and Sauser said seeing a team multiple times is always tough.

Wallace will host the first two rounds of the RPAC tourney Thursday. Paxton, the third seed, will play Maxwell, the sixth seed, in the first game, followed by the Wildcats, the second seed,  against seventh seeded DCS. The winners will play at 8 p.m.

The other half of the West bracket includes fifth seed Hitchcock County playing fourth seed Wauneta-Palisade with the winner playing top seeded Maywood/Hayes Center.

Winners from the two sites will play at the higher seeded school Monday.

Cambridge is the top seed in the East bracket, followed by Southwest, Alma, Medicine Valley, Arapahoe, Southern Valley and Bertrand.

The finals will be Tuesday at McCook Community College.

The D2-9 subdistrict will be Oct 24-25 at the subdistrict’s highest seed. The subdistrict is made up of RPAC schools DCS, Hitchcock County, Paxton, Wallace and WP.

As of Monday, Wallace is seventh in the D2 point standings and leads the subdistrict with Paxton following in 12th.
