“Click It or Ticket” results given by PCSO

This year Perkins County again participated in the national “Click It or Ticket” mobilization. The campaign effort emphasizes child restraint and seat belt law compliance.

The Perkins County Sheriff’s Office has released results from the seatbelt campaign between the dates of Nov. 23-27.

• Total traffic stops: 11

• Citations: 5

• Warnings: 6

• Seatbelt violations found: 1

• Drug seizures: 1

Post wave Survey results: 43 percent of drivers were observed wearing seatbelts, a 6 percent increase from the previous survey.

Reminder

The most effective way to reduce traffic crash injuries, the severity of injuries, and to save lives is to have all drivers and passengers buckled up in every vehicle.

Last year, 135 (68 percent) of the 198 fatally injured passenger vehicle occupants in the state were not wearing seat belts.

Nebraska’s seat belt usage rate has increased to 81 percent, but that is far below the national rate of 90.4 percent and is the fourth worst in the nation.

A recent observation survey on seatbelt usage in Perkins County revealed an average seatbelt compliance of only 37 percent in our area.
