The creation of the Grant North Side Water Extension District was approved by a unanimous vote by council members in attendance at May 23’s Grant City Council meeting after the third reading of the ordinance.
Mayor Mike Wyatt and council member Andrea Brueggeman were absent.
According to the ordinance, the city will improve/construct a six-inch water main on the east side right-of-way on Highway 61 from the city’s water system to Road 761, with one or more extensions under Highway 61 for the connection and metering of consumers on the west side of the highway.
The city shall levy the cost of the project to the district, and accept the water main as part of the city’s water system which includes maintenance, repair and replacement at the completion of the project no later than Sept. 1.
Water consumers within the district will be considered the same as water consumers within city limits except the district residents will be subject to rates established by the council.
The ordinance concerning prohibited animals was amended and approved by a unanimous vote, with the final two readings waived.
The previous and current ordinance states that it shall be unlawful for any person to keep or maintain within corporate limits any horse, mule, sheep, cow, goat, swine, fowl or other livestock.
